Family, Friends, Fellowship and Great Food Featured at NIA's Holiday Party
The NIA rang in the holiday season in style at its annual Holiday Party, held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, in the multipurpose room of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 1162 SW Lincoln.
Approximately 20 neighborhood residents and others attended the event. Faith Temple Church did a wonderful job with the arrangements, including decorations and a menu featuring homemade chili and soup. As part of the fellowship at the party, updates were given on various neighborhood activities, including the International Academy in Tennessee Town, the NIA, the Topeka city council, and neighborhood churches. Prizes were offered to attendees. The NIA wishes to extend its thanks once again to the membership at Faith Temple, and it hopes that everyone had a great holiday season and will extend the goodwill that characterizes the season into 2020 and beyond!

Tennessee Town Basketball Tournament and
National Night Out Against Crime Events Successful
National Night Out Against Crime Events Successful
Many thanks to those who organized and attended the Tennessee Town Basketball Tournament and National Night Out Against Crime events, held on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Both events were tremendous successes and enabled not only those who love and support Tennessee Town but the entire city to experience our hospitality and to see the progress the neighborhood has made and will make in the future.
Both event venues were characterized by throngs of enthusiastic participants and supporters. Those two events are the highlights of the neighborhood's social season, as it were, and, along with the NIA's holiday party, its most notable events designed to reach out to neighborhood residents to thank them for their involvement, or get them involved, in the neighborhood. Of course, that outreach is continuous and includes inviting people to NIA meetings (click on "Meetings" at the top of this page for details) and other activities.
Specifically, the NIA thanks Arturo and Sandy Lassiter, Faith Temple Church, as well as others involved in the organization and presentation of the 11th annual Tennessee Town Basketball Tournament; and Shannon Keys and Faith Temple Church, and others involved in the organization and presentation of the NIA's National Night Out Against Crime celebration.
